Corona's Legion Memorial Hall: A New Chapter as Historical Landmark

Updated: Mar 5

In a momentous event for the community, the Legion Memorial Hall of the William H. Jameson, Jr. Post 216, was officially designated as a Historical Landmark by the Corona Register of Historical Resources on January 6, 2021. Despite initial delays caused by COVID-19 restrictions, the hall's significant contribution to local history was celebrated in a special ceremony. The landmark status, a result of diligent research and analysis by Post 216's Rich Winn, received unanimous approval from the Planning Commission and the City Council. Corona Mayor Jacque Casillas, along with Councilmen Jim Steiner and Wes Speake, presented the landmark certificate, accepted by Post Commander George Brightenburg and Post Historian Rich Winn, marking a proud day for the American Legion and the Corona community.
